5/3 Carter at the CMS Color Run
5/4 Chainsmoker’s concert
He was more interested in eating than watching the concert so I found a table next to the windows so that I could watch while he ate!

I made her pump the gas for the first time on the way home!

5/2 Carter’s school soccer game, he had some great saves.
Even though it looks like his hands on are on the wrong side of the ball, he snatched this one right out of the air in a great save.

5/4 Raine’s soccer game
5/7 Tornadoes
Raine’s team scored 2 goals directly off of Raine’s first 2 corner kicks.

5/11 Carter scored 8 points in his basketball game
Highlights from the 5/5 and 5/11 games
5/11 Raine’s last soccer game of the rec season. It was against a really terrible team, so our starting line-up had our defenders playing striker and our strikers playing defense. Raine scored fairly early in the game so Coach Grant made her play goalie! I believe that this is the first goal that Raine has ever scored that wasn’t off a corner, penalty, or free kick.
After the game, we had an end-of-season party at the Londoner.

Raine was awarded “Player of the Season.” She scored 3 goals this season on top of all of the countless assists and defensive plays she made.

4/6 Raine’s rec soccer game – she scored a goal off an indirect free kick. The goalie touched it when she tried to stop it, so it counted as a goal.

Raine was working as an assistant referee on a nearby field so I ran over to take pictures of her during Carter’s half-time.

Raine’s rec soccer game. They were winning 7-0 with 5 minutes left in the first half, so we left in order for Raine to get ready for prom.

Immediately after the school game, he had a rec game.
4/27 Carter’s rec game
Carter had to leave at half-time in his soccer game in order to get to his basketball game. He played great in this game.

4/8 Total eclipse. We weren’t sure how much we would be able to see due to clouds, but fortunately, the clouds were pretty spotty where we were so we were able to see all of the different stages. Totality was beyond anything I expected. It wasn’t like a shadow, it was eerie, and all the street lights came on.
Carter stayed home from school but Raine went and watched the eclipse from the TCC campus. Fortunately someone took photos of her because I didn’t even think to take photos of us on the driveway watching it.
4/10 Youth temple trip
4/13 Raine went with Adam Sturgeon to his Keller High School Senior Prom. This was technically her first date, too. He had asked her to go to Mormon Prom back in March, but it was on a Friday night so she had a school soccer game and couldn’t go. She thought that was the end of it until he contacted her at about noon on Friday asking if she would go to his school prom with him. By some miracle, we found a dress and shoes Friday afternoon. And by some other miracle, we got her from sweaty soccer player to prom-ready in under two hours.
4/19 Raine found an injured bunny on her way to the bus stop. She wouldn’t leave it, so we had to take it to the animal hospital.
4/24 UIL Soccer Banquet. Raine was nominated 2nd Team All District

Easter weekend at the cabin
3/31 – Easter Sunday
February 2 – Raine’s team had their first regular season game in Decatur. They played much better than last year.
February 3 – Carter insisted on playing in the game even with his broken thumb still in the splint.
February 5 – Carter’s last middle-school basketball game
Will, Connor, Rigley, Carter, Fallin

February 6 – Raine’s first home soccer game of the season. She ended up going off early because she got tackled from behind and scraped all the skin off her knee and butt.

February 9 – Raine’s soccer game in Bridgeport. Her team is so much better this year than last.

February 13 – Raine’s soccer game at Castleberry. It was such a close game but they ended up losing 2-1.
These two photos were in the school newsletter.
February 16 – Raine’s soccer game against Lake Worth. Regular time ended in a 0-0 tie and we won in penalty kicks. This is the varsity girls’ first district win ever! My cousin Angie Badger and her daughter Finley were in town for a gymnastics meet and they came to watch in the windy cold.
February 17 – first rec league game of the season, a scrimmage against the Tigers where we won 3-0. Carter had a game at the same time at a different location so I missed his game.
February 17 – Carter’s basketball team made it to the playoffs and won their first game. Carter put up 2 points, had a rebound, and a bunch of assists.
February 18 – Carter’s team went into the championship game as the underdogs but managed to end the game just one point behind. It was a tough loss, but they have improved a ton this season.
Raine and her friends had a Galentines party.

February 23 – Raine’s school soccer game.
Collegiate Academy Varsity Girls Soccer Team
January 4-6 Raine played in the Springtown soccer tournament. Her team actually won their first game EVER! Unfortunately, she was injured in the Saturday morning game and unable to play in the afternoon game for 3rd place and her team lost in penalty kicks.
January 8 – Carter’s school game
January 14 – Carter’s club game
January 15 – we got a little bit of snow so Carter and his friends decided to go sledding at the elementary school. It wasn’t enough snow to sled on more than one or two runs down the hill and on Carter’s last run, the sled stopped in the grass while Carter kept going. He broke his thumb on his left hand and sprained his wrist on his right hand. Looks like that may be the end of his basketball season.
January 19 – Daddy and I went to the Ft Worth Stock Show Rodeo
January 23 – Raine’s team handily beat Western Hills again (the same team they beat and then lost to in the tournament)
