This past weekend we went on a family camping trip to the Sam Houston National Forrest. We spent two nights at the Double Lake Campground riding bikes, hiking, and swatting mosquitoes! The Rumsey’s came up Friday night; it was so much fun having them there.
The campground had a paved trail around the lake that was perfect for our trailer. Friday morning we rode around, stopping often to look at the scenery. Saturday morning Shannan and Davis watched the kids while Daddy and I rode the real trails. We had so much fun bouncing over roots, lifting our bikes over fallen trees, and slogging through mud. The trail wound through dense trees, it was very picturesque.
Here we are at one of the stops along our family bike ride.
These kids love picking wild flowers. Fortunately, there were plenty to be picked!
This photo is going on my wall; I love being a mom!
Raine found a tree to climb, so of course this little monkey had to do it too.
When Shannan and Alexa arrived, they brought a bike for Raine to ride. This was Raine’s first time on a “big-kid” bike . . . she was in heaven! Saturday morning, she and Alexa rode all around the lake on the paved trail.

Carter made one too.
“Sheeez.” I used to think that saying “cheese” made you smile when taking a photo, but Carter consistently proves that theory wrong!
Raine and Carter kept themselves busy chasing bugs while we packed up the truck Saturday afternoon.
What a fun camping trip!
