Saturday, February 9, we toured Reykjavík. Our first stop was Hallgrímskirkja—the Church of Hallgrímur, a 17th-century Icelandic poet and clergyman. The Lutheran church is the second tallest building in Iceland at 244 ft high.
The view from the top was pretty spectacular.
A friend of mine told me that the thrift shops in Iceland are the best place to purchase an authentic Icelandic sweater at a reasonable price, so we headed down to the main shopping street, Laugavegur, in search of a treasure (which I found, but I didn’t take a photo).
Can you tell which one was excited to be shopping and which one wasn’t?
On the way back to the car, we HAD TO stop at Brauð & Co. for some delicious cinnamon rolls.
Our next stop was the frozen Lake Tjörnin.
There was a warm spring feeding the lake and that is where all of the water fowl congregated.
